Ahhh, the season of giving! This is the time of generosity! Ever heard of How the Grinch Stole Christmas? Or A Christmas Carol? In a way we all are a Scrooge or a Grinch, if you think about it. We've all done bad things. "Your stupid" "What are you wearing!?" "You Bi'atch!" Admit it, you've all said something like this. But our biggest mistake was letting our world suffer when we live. Have you ever cranked up the heat for extra heat? Or have you watered your garden everyday just too make sure it stays green? Well to tell you the truth, your garden doesn't need water every single day! Preserve water and only water 3 or 4 times a week, instead of 7. What the heck, on your way to work or school pick up trash you see. If every person on our Earth did that think about how much cleaner our world would be! Also during this holiday season give back to your community! Volunteer at a homeless shelter or a soup kitchen. If you like animals go ahead and volunteer at an animal shelter! Be generous. Not because I told you too, but do it for others. Do it for yourself.

That's One Big Footprint!

Eairlier we talked about how carbon dioxide is a green house gas and how it's like adding another blanket to our wonderful home. But did you ever think about who did it? Not big foot, not mother nature, and not everything you hate. Yes, us. WE did it. WE are the cause of this. There is word for this, our carbon footprint. Car-Bon Foot-Print. All the carbon dioxide that we let into our Earth is our fault. With the damand of more electricity more CO2 is out in the air. When you drive a car, leave the lights on, eating and drinking, heating or cooling, your adding to the CO2 to the envirnment, otherwise known as adding to your carbon footprint. But I'm not saying not to eat or not to drive, but take these tips to mind.
1. In the winter set your thermoustat to 68 degrese. And in the summer set it to about 76. The idea of this is to use less energy to warm or cool your house.
2. EAT LESS MEAT! The rainforest traps CO2, but we cut them down to feet the meet we eat!
3. SHORTER SHOWERS! Short and easy, we have to heat the water, so the less water the less electicity used to heast it.
4. DON'T BUY WATER BOTTLES! Just use re-useable ones. Take my word. Thanks.
5. Reasearch to learn more. Spread the world. Please.
People, we all still have a chance to SAVE THE WORLD 2 DAY! We can do it! Save the world for our future people! They'll thank us, and we'll congragulate our selfs knowing we did the right thing. Save the one thing we all love. Our home. Reduce your carbon footprint. Save our world. Think. Know. Do.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union..." The U.S constitution. Thank you our dead founding fathers! But this is not a blog to tell you about dead people, this is a blog about the environment. So, to form a 'more perfect union,' what must we do? WE have to help STOP global warming. We all know the basics,turn off the lights, recycle, use reusable bags. Here are things you are going to HAVE TO DO if YOU WANT THE PLANET TO LIVE. First off turn off the lights, duh. You don't have to read in the dark, just turn them off every time you leave a room, or the bathroom. CARPOOL! Use less gas by carpooling with a friend, neighbor, stranger or anyone that owns a car. Get some excursive! Don't be lazy and say, 'Mom! Can you drive me to a friends house even though they're like 2 blocks away!' Bike, skateboard, scooter, unicycle, use a tricycle, and if you don't own any of those things, use the old fashion use of your feet. Replace your light-bulbs in your house! Instead of having those 'idea' light-bulbs, use Florissant, or those swirly ones! If every house in California, we/you could, save up to 74 million $ every year, keep over 970 pounds of Co2 out of the environment, and more! Open a window! Duh, thats why they invented them. Don't use a fan, use a window. It helps if it's already broken. Plant a tree, get rid of Co2, have more air to breath, and make the world look green again!
Some more ideas, instead of the paper newspaper, go on-line,use reusable bags, they're a pain, but good for our planet. Ditch the plastic water bottles, use reusable ones, heck, go to your favorite coffee shop with a reusable cup! You might say ew to eco- friendly products, i say cool! Use recycled paper to reduce tree cutting. Heard of smencils? They're recycled news paper!

What's Next?

I've already told you how global warming happens, so here's the next question... What happens BECAUSE of global warming. Let me tell you in advance, they are not good things. Has anyone ever tell you that life is a cycle, never ending, like a circle? No? I guess not. So I'll be the first, everything in the environment is connected somehow. Let me double check... carry the one... add three... some trees... Yep! Everything is connected.
Remember the green house effect? Well, with all the temperatures rising, so is the water. As you may have guessed, the water floods some of our lower land-masses. The plants on the land-masses died out. As another piece to the falling line of dominos, the animals run out of food to eat, so they die, then (it hasn't happened but it will, soon)us, humans, run out of plants and animals to live off of. What are we going to do then? Die. Or drown, same thing. Do you see how it's connected? Without all the things we take for granite, we would be no more.
Not only does global warming cause flooding problems, but it also causes climate change. The green house effect is making the Earth hot. Think about it, the polar ice caps might turn into HUGE swimming pools, this is NOT a good thing btw. You may eve say, 'ha! Hot weather? I can go to the beach and get a really nice tan!' Yes, you could do that, but the continuous cycle that i explained about the floods, it's the same thing here. (In science, you will see repeating patterns, get used to it) Adapting to warmer weather is hard. The arctic animals will have to adapt to warmer climates compared to what they're used to, not only the arctic, but a lot of other animals too! Some of our food doesn't exactly grow very well in hot weather, forests and lakes will dry up and shrivel. How does this connect to you, me, or the president? Like I told you, EVERYTHING CONNECTS! This is complicated, you may not get it, but after some hard thinking, I know you'll get it. Remember what I told you. Please.

Anyone Heard of GLOBAL WARMING?

Okay, we've all heard about the term 'global warming'. It's on the news, at school, at work, etc. If you haven't heard of the term 'global warming', well, GET OUT OF YOUR STUPID SHELL AND KEEP READING. This is important so take a deep breath and start to take in what I'm about to tell you. I only have the rough, but important details, so here I go. Global warming is the gradual increase of Earths surface temperature. In other words, the earth is getting hotter. And no, this is not a good thing. Imagine this, Earth is on an ice cream cone and it's melting. Who likes melted ice cream? Before I tell you what happens because of global warming, let me tell how this happens. The green house affect. So our atmosphere, a combination of gasses that surround our lovely planet, has lots of natural gas. These gases are like a blanket around Earth to make it warm enough to live on. Cozy. Some of these gasses are, carbon dioxide (Co2), water vapor, ozone, and methane gas. These gases were somewhat balanced until the industrial revolution. With all our new and high-tech inventions, there comes a price. Our home.
Since about the 1700's, we started to advance. But with those advances also came burning more fossil fuel, such as coal, which results to more carbon dioxide. And if you didn't know this cars results to more Co2, too. So with all this Co2 in the air results in more green house effect. Its like adding too many blankets to the Earth so now your sweating like crazy. Why is this bad? With all of this great beach weather, it's getting hotter and hotter every year. Scientist predict that by 2100 that temperatures will increase by almost 12 degrees. If you don't think that's hot think about it, during the ice age it was about 9 degrees. As I'm writing this it's about 72 degrees! On a hot day, maybe 86 degrees. So in like 90 years a normal day will be 84 degrees! And if you live in a hotter place...well you can do the math. Welcome. My blog is about the environment and how we can help. I know, not the most interesting subject, right? Most kids fall asleep in this subject. DO NOT TAKE IT LIGHTLY! Even though this might seem like the least of our worries, this is what matters most. Do you think that this will blow over in a couple of years? Think again. Damage has been done. What we, the people, have done CAN NOT be undone. But what we can do is help it. We've all heard all of these things, recycle, pick up trash, turn off the lights, but this time, do it! For all you guys and girls who are like, 'were to cool to recycle!' Or, 'damn recycling, lets go to the beach!' Lets see how cool you are when our world catches fire, or all the continents flood. That's right. Help what we call home, stop the natural disasters that might come, do all you can. This is just an introduction. Keep reading to help.
